Hotels + Things 2 Do
There is currently no "official" hotel for the reunion but several are listed under the Hotel tab.  You can also use Trip Advisor to find accomodations on your own.  If you find something great and want us to add it here, please just email us.  Our favorite hotel was the Pullman in the higher end and Marriott Townplace Suites in mid-range.  Extended Stay is ok, too, and is walking distance.
Things To Do
Stroll Laurel Street, San Carlos

Laurel Street in San Carlos is the main drag.  They have dozens of great restaurants and lots of cute shops.

Downtown Redwood City

You would never recognize the former "Deadwood City."  It's a vibrant tech hub, home to the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (nonprofit) and countelss start-ups.  It has a freindly vibe with lots of bars and restaurants.  Dine at Donato Enoteca, Vesta, LV Mar, Timber & Salt ... or take in a movie at the Cineplex with many choices for tasty and surprisingly healthy faster food on the same block.  The margaritas at Quinto Sol (2201 Broadway) are killer and the veggie scramble at Main & Elm, a short jog from the heart of downtown, is out of this world, particilarly on a sunny day out on the patio.  Theo loves Harry's Hofbrau.

Formerly Sofitel.  Free shuttle from SFO. Pool, ping pong, fire pit, walking path, view of water and corporate offices, very inviting bar and restaurant spaces for hanging out.  Rates quoted when we visited: $190 king, $200 queen ... but they have offered us a group rate of $149 plus tax per night, "run of house," so whether it's one bed or two depends on what is available.  Ask for the Los Altos High School Reunion rate when you call.  This is a refundable rate but please ask for clarification on cancellation policy.  Parking is an extra $28-$35, depending on wheter you valet or self-park, and prices are subject to change.  There is a courtesy hold on this room block and we are not the only group staying in the hotel, so book early to ensure you have a room.

The only hotel within walking distance of Devil's Canyon ... stay here if you are a heavy partier.  1 bed = $159, 2 beds = $179, plus you have to pay the California tax man, of course.  These are rates quoted at front desk but you can probably do better online.  Think these rooms have kitchens in them and don't know whether this includes any sort of breakfast -- please ask for details.  Less "hanging out" space at this hotel but it seemed modern, clean, efficient.

Marriott Townplace Suites (we liked this one best at this price point … a short drive on the opposite side of 101 so map the distance before you sign up): $159 for a 1-bed Studio Suite Friday, $169 Saturday,  these are rates quoted at desk and you may do better online, contiguous to a low-traffic small aircraft facility, ask for water view on back side for quiet and ambience, includes parking, breakfast, wifi, and a pass to work out at Bay Club, when available (ie, if all passes have not been handed out).

Fairfield Inn is nothing to write home about and closer to highway, but it's fine and includes breakfast and the other stuff: King $164, 2 Queens $174, these are at-the-desk rates and you may do better online.  Consider asking for a room facing away from highway if you want something quieter, which may be relative.
